One of Jack P Shepherd’s close friends and Coronation Street co-stars has shared their own reaction to his Celebrity Big Brother win – and it was much bigger than the winner himself.

The actor appeared to be in complete shock as he was confirmed as the ITV reality show’s winner during Friday night’s (April 25) live final.

Before the rankings were announced, footage from the six finalists’ last night in the Celebrity Big Brother house was shown, which saw them share a final meal together, paying tribute to each other.

Jack, famed for playing Corrie’s David Platt, then finished in the top spot ahead of drag artist Danny Beard, TV star Chris Hughes, social media personality JoJo Siwa, comedian Donna Preston and singer Chesney Hawkes.

After being confirmed as the show’s winner, Jack – a self-confessed Big Brother fan – said: “I can’t believe it – I am blown away. I didn’t expect it.”

The soap star, who was told he’d won with a huge 37% share of the votes between the six finalists, initially thought he was a “shoo-in” for fifth place on the show after he made the final, but his outlook changed when JoJo left the famous house before him.

The 37-year-old shared of the Dance Mom’s child star: “I thought, surely not? When JoJo went my head fell off – I had her nailed down as the winner.”

Among those tuning in to watch Jack’s winning moment was Corrie star Colson Smith, who was behind encouraging Jack to take on a reality TV show for the first time having finished third during Celebrity Big Brother’s 2024 series.

The Craig Tinker actor has carried on co-hosting their podcast, On The Sofa, with fellow Corrie co-star Ben Price, who plays Jack’s on-screen brother Nick Tilsley. The pair have been sharing their daily reactions to Jack’s time in the Big Brother house before he return home.

But on Friday night, Colson posted his own reaction to Jack’s win. In his Greater Manchester home, the actor switched the camera between his TV screen, showing the tense moment Jack and Danny were waiting to hear who had been crowned winner, and himself.

“Here we go. Here. We. Go!” Colson said into the camera before the wait ensued. “I’m nervous. I’m literally shaking!” he admitted. Then In disbelief as Jack’s name was called, Colson said open-mouthed: “He’s done it!” before screeching: “He’s done it!”

He went running through his house laughing and declaring: “He’s won it!” before stopping and looking back at the TV with a face of pride and sounds of relief and emotion.

Colson captioned the post: “YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS.” Lucy Fallon, who plays Corrie Bethany Platt, was quick to respond as she said: “HUGE slay,” while Toyah Habeeb actress Georgia Taylor commented: “You are too cute Cols.”

Sue Devaney, who is much loved for playing Debbie Webster in the ITV soap, also gushed: “Can you be any more cute! Everyone needs a bezzie mate like you Cols! How amazing!!! So so proud of our Jack!”
