NRL Saturday scores

46′ Panthers score!

44′ 40/20 from Cleary

Jazz Tevaga is making some great ground, carrying a Panthers body with him for about 15m.

Manly gets a penalty and elect not to kick for goal. DCE instead sends it into touch deep.

Scott Sorensen is back on the field after his sin-binning and Penrith are able to regain the ball.

Nathan Cleary smashes one up field and pulls off a 40/20 – although it looked like Lehi Hopoate actually kept in play.

Second half begins

The Panthers will need some sort of miracle to not end tonight on the bottom of the ladder.

They have first use as the second half is underway.

Halftime: Panthers 0 – 14 Sea Eagles

It has been a really impressive first half of rugby league from Manly.

The Sea Eagles have a 100% completion rate from the first 40, and Tom Trbojevic has been absolutely instrumental on his return.

He set up Tommy Talau for Manly’s second try after Reuben Garrick had opened the scoring.

Penrith looked a bit all over the place, exhibiting some silly mistakes and lacklustre movement.

“I think Ivan will be stoked going into half-time, only 14 points down,” says Luke Lewis on commentary for ABC Sport.

Was last week’s win over the Roosters a false dawn for the four-time defending premiers?

We’ll find out soon – the second half isn’t far away.

38′ Cleary’s kicking

On the last of the latest Panthers set, Nathan Cleary deftly punts one through to the Manly goal area via a nutmeg on Dylan Brown.

It’s defended by DCE who just about shepherds it into safety.

Penrith have it back and Cleary kicks another one past the Manly try-line.

Again, its defended by Manly and they’re pushing late on in the first half.

33′ Scott Sorensen in the bin

It’s a hefty, hefty challenge from Scott Sorensen.

Nathan Brown has the ball and charges straight for the Penrith man.

It’s a big collision, Sorensen is leading with the shoulder, and he is sent to the sin bin.

32′ Manly go 14-0 up

It’s a really painful one for Brad Schneider – his head is essentially sat on by Daly Cherry-Evans during a tackle 10 metres from the try-line.

He goes off with a pretty hefty gash to his cheek.

Manly are pressing forward, dancing in and out of the 10-metre line.

And the pressure tells – the Sea Eagles are awarded a penalty for a late leg lift by Isaiah Papali’i.

Manly takes the kick, and Tom Trbojevic hammers an easy one home.

That’s 14 unanswered first-half points for the visitors, meanwhile for Panthers premiership winner Luke Lewis has described Penrith’s play as “unsettling”.

28′ Hopoate under pressure on his try-line

The Panthers are on their third and have bodies on the right, but Sorensen decides not to unleash his onrushing teammates.

A high wobbler is kicked on the last and Lehi Hopoate can’t gather it cleanly.

Liam Miller is adjudged to have knocked it on as he rose alongside Hopoate, and Manly has a fresh set to play with.

25′ Panthers lacking finesse

Manly is standing off as Penrith has their best set for a while.

Cleary chips one through on the last, the Sea Eagles gather it, but the whistle is blown.

Liam Miller is too eager and called off-side.

More mistakes from the Panthers and the Sea Eagles are then through in a flash.

DCE chips a tempting one into the Panthers goal area but Dylan Edwards gathers and just about gets out of his goal area.

Meanwhile, Casey McLean has passed his HIA and back on the field.

20′ TRY: Manly scores again, through Tommy Talau

And it’s Tommy Talau who goes over for the Sea Eagles.

Some slick play down through the middle and Tom Trbojevic, on his return, unlocks Talau, who’s onrushing to his right.

Reuben Garrick nails the conversion and it’s a deserved 12-0 lead.

20′ Sloppy Panthers

Excellent kick down field from Manly on the last and it swirls over Paul Alamoti just up from his try line.

Two Sea Eagles are converging on him, but he just about manages to get the pass away to Dylan Edwards who breaks forward a touch.

The Panthers complete their six with a kick deep into Manly territory.

They then are able to peg Manly pack effectively – the visitors hardly make any ground in their first three. But DCE gets his massive boot to it and the Panthers rebuild from their own tryline.

And the Panthers are breaking down the right – some slick passing and there are bodies breaking down the wing.

However, Scott Sorensen puts in a wayward pass that finds touch. It looked forward as well.

14′ Casey McLean off for HIA

100% completion rate from Manly so far tonight. They look up for it and again are pegging Penrith back.

But the game is stopped and Casey McLean is ordered off the field for a concussion check.

As far as head knocks go, it looked relatively innocuous, but better safe than sorry, I reckon.

McLean jogs off and we’ll keep you updated with how he’s going.

12′ Massive tackle by Brooks

A high, wobbly kick from DCE almost finds touch deep, but its caught by Thomas Jenkins and the Panthers can rebuild.

However, its sloppy stuff from the Panthers – the ball is down and Manly have a fresh six not much more than 20m out.

Izack Tago rises high on his own tryline to claim the kick that came on Manly’s last.

He charges forward, makes some ground and is tackled illegally.

It’s a fresh six but Penrith can’t make the most of it.

Nathan Cleary is absolutely hammered by Luke Brooks.

The Sea Eagles regain the ball, and the Panthers are a bit all over the place at the moment.

6′ TRY: MANLY OPEN THE SCORING

And it’s Reuben Garrick with it.

Some slick play from Manly, who work the ball from the left, through the centre and then out wide.

The Panthers are pinged and Casey McLean is put on report.

Manly don’t kick from the resulting penalty and are applying considerable pressure, the ball is eventually out to Garrick and he breezes over for the first points of the game.

He converts with ease and it’s 6-0.

4′ Strong early running from Edwards

Strong running from Moses Leota and the Panthers aim a high diagonal kick that is gathered by Lehi Hopoate under some pressure.

Manly complete their six with a kick that finds Dylan Edwards, who makes his first marauding run of the game.

He gains some significant ground, but the Sea Eagles are awarded a penalty after a kick on the Panthers’ last.

KICK OFF: We’re underway in Western Sydney

A strong kick from the Panthers and Manly have first use deep in its own territory.

Not far away in Western Sydney

And just like that, we’re a few thousand kilometres down the east coast.

The players are on the field in Western Sydney and observing the pre-match Anzac Day ceremony.

Kick off between the Panthers and Sea Eagles isn’t far away, with both teams desperate for a win.

Sea Eagles looking to get back on track

After a promising start to the season, the Sea Eagles have well and truly fallen into the harbour.

Three consecutive losses see them languishing in 11th, level on points with the 16th placed Eels.

However, tonight, they’ll be buoyed by the return of Tom Trbojevic, who, according to Anthony Seibold, is “fully fit” after his knee injury.

They’ll be hoping for a Turbo special tonight.

Panthers vs Sea Eagles team news

(NRL)

The big news for Manly is Turbo is back.

Jason Saab and Josh Aloiai are both absent through injury. Tommy Talau moves to the wing and Ethan Bullemor to prop.

For the Panthers, Brad Schneider is a late inclusion, and Izack Tago moves to the centres.

Mitch Kenny is suspended.
