BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen was branded a “hard watch” as viewers at home claimed it was more Carry On than cooking
Saturday Kitchen: Chef Jeremy quips ‘you’ll be sent to your room’
The latest episode of Saturday Kitchen on March 29 left some viewers feeling rather irked, with many likening the show to a Carry On film due to its cheeky undertones.
Host Matt Tebbutt was joined by chefs Donal Skehan, Jeremy Lee, and special guest Natalie Cassidy, along with drinks expert Olly Smith. However, chef Jeremy’s cooking segment didn’t quite hit the mark, with some viewers put off by his untidy approach and innuendos.
As Jeremy prepared a whole chicken, he jokingly chastised Olly for using the term “juicy” to describe the food, exclaiming, “Stop it! You’ll be sent to your room, dear! I’ll be there in two minutes!” The studio erupted in laughter, with Jeremy quipping, “Stop it! Children are watching, for God’s sake!”
But not everyone found the exchange amusing, with some taking to X to express their displeasure. One viewer posted, “This is a hard watch this morning. Just too much. Very annoying.”
Another agreed, saying, “It’s all a bit Carry on Cooking this morning.”
A third viewer complained, “Today’s show is giving me a headache. I’m off.”
Not everyone was offended, however. One fan praised Jeremy, saying, “Jeremy is just the sweetest guy, isn’t he? Have always loved him!” And another fan tweeted: “Loving @JLQuoVadis on #SaturdayKitchen (Well on pretty much anything TBH.)”.
Away from the show, Matt has shared some good news with his followers regarding his son Henry. Over on social media platform, Instagram, he proudly posted: “My son the PILOT!! First solo flight today for @henry.tebbutt @east_of_scotland_uas #raf #firstsoloflight #leuchars.”
Fans were buzzing at the update and piled in with praise, with Saturday Kitchen’s Olly also chiming in, sharing: “This is absolutely amazing. Like father, like son. A bit like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker with a twist of Top Gun. So proud.”
Saturday Kitchen airs Saturdays from 10am on BBC One
