Exciting novice Juby Ball headlines today’s offering from Chepstow, with all seven races live on Sky Sports Racing…

1.20 Chepstow – Exciting novice Juby Ball returns

Trainer Evan Williams has several fine chances on the card and Juby Ball will be popular to start the day with a bang in the Let’s Bet Personal With Fitzdares Novices’ Hurdle. Winner of one of his two bumper starts, he produced an excellent display to win a competitive maiden hurdle at Ffos Las and will hope to defy a penalty before heading up in grade.

Ben Solo is the other penalised runner having won over course and distance on his hurdling bow in October. He will need to step forward from his recent runs but remains with promise on this drop back to two miles.

Of the others, Mini Fortune has shown ability in point-to-points and rates an intriguing debutant for Thomas Faulkner.

2.20 Chepstow – Jalisco Star looks to get back to winning ways

Laura Haskell’s Jalisco Star has improved since undergoing wind surgery last year and, having narrowly been denied a hat-trick at Warwick last month, he looks the one to beat in the Call Fitzdares Mares’ Handicap Hurdle. Up to Class Three company for the first time, a 3lb rise in the weights might not be enough to stop him.

The Lord Maid tops the weights for Tom Lacey and Cameron Iles. He is dropping in class after finishing well beaten at Doncaster, but his previous second at Warwick in November would see him involved.

Love Of Neymore and Phillipa Sue complete the shortlist.

2.50 Chepstow – Donnacha and Hurricane Highway contest feature

The Nigel Hawke-trained Donnacha got off the mark at Exeter on his third start over fences and has obvious claims from his 4lb higher mark.

Hurricane Highway is yet to score over the larger obstacles but ran a promising second behind Karuma Grey at Ffos Las in December and warrants respect off the same mark.

Others to note include Venetia Williams’ The Famous Five who landed the odds at Newbury in December before disappointing at Haydock. It would be no surprise to see him bounce back under Charlie Deutsch.
